It's a long way down the Holiday Road

Look at the lovely couple........

Let's start by introducing you to these two people. There's dad, also known as Roy and there's mom, also known as Chris. After taking them to Orlando 2014, dad wanted to go back to America so he did what he always does. He dragged mom to a travel agent just to 'have a look' and then booked a trip straight away for 2015.
"Hey Matt, you'll never guess what your dad's gone and done?"
"No, what now?"
"He's booked a week in Vegas"
"Shit"
Now, don't get me wrong, my parents aren't idiots but for them to travel so far away to a 'crazy' place like Vegas sounded like pure madness. Dad loves the adventure but mom is more grounded, I'm sure she thinks she's got 3 kids and not 2 sometimes.
The trip came and went, so how was Vegas?
"Yeah it was alright"......
If this comment had come from mom then I wouldn't have been surprised but it came from dad. They had stayed at Harrahs which they said was nice but a bit big. I've never managed to get the full details of the trip from them but I know they didn't venture out too far as mom found it all a bit overwhelming. They saw the Bellagio Fountains, the Mirage Volcano and they took the Deuce to Downtown Vegas only to get straight back on. Oh and they got the temperature wrong on a burger they ordered once so it arrived still going moo.
"Dad, would you go back"
"..... No, we saw what we wanted"
Later that year we went for the 1st time, the previous blog will tell you that we actually enjoyed it so what dad had said was even more surprising. We liked it, they didn't, if we all liked the same thing it'd be boring but as time went by, both Jane and myself thought that maybe if we had gone together it may have been a different experience for them.
You can probably guess what's coming next - although you don't really need to guess as you already know we went the following year but now you know why.
If we were going to go with the folks then there's a few things we needed to do. Stick with a smaller casino, Tropicana was great for us, Harrahs was too big for them, try to get a place just off the Strip so it's all less overwhelming and go to a few recognisable places mixed in with some new experiences.
Would this next trip change the folk's opinion of Vegas? Would it change ours? Maybe we had seen everything we wanted last time. Not to worry, I've got a plan and it's as hot as my pants!
